China Soon Implements New Dual-Use Goods Export Rules.

Please be advised that as of December 1, 2024, the Chinese government will enforce regulations on the export control of dual-use goods. As stated by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, the purpose of these regulations is to enhance transparency and standardization of export control policies and improve export control capabilities of goods that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. The new regulations will require exporters of dual-use items to obtain the necessary permits and provide detailed information regarding the end user and intended use of the goods. The United States has accused China of supporting Russia's war efforts in Ukraine by supplying dual-use goods, including microelectronics that could be used in weapon development. However, China has denied providing arms to any party and has stated that normal trade with Russia should not be disrupted. In response to this, Washington has recently imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies and a Russian affiliate involved in the production and delivery of attack drones, and has cautioned both Chinese and Russian companies against using such weapons.

Putin: BRICS Will Become Center of World Economic Power.

At the BRICS business forum in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the BRICS group countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, will drive the majority of global economic growth in the coming years. Mr. Putin's objective is to establish the BRICS as a formidable counterbalance to the West in global politics and trade. The group has recently expanded to include countries such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. Putin anticipates that BRICS will stimulate a notable expansion in global GDP, with member countries' economic growth becoming less reliant on external influence or interference, thereby enhancing their economic autonomy. The forthcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, hosted by Putin, is regarded as evidence that Western efforts to isolate Russia over its actions in Ukraine have been unsuccessful. Moreover, Russia is seeking to collaborate with other nations with the goal of reforming the global financial system.

India Targets 5 Million Tons of Green Hydrogen Production: Boost Clean Energy.

India is making significant investments in renewable energy, with a particular focus on the development of green hydrogen production. This initiative is part of India's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2070 and reducing its reliance on fossil fuels. Green hydrogen, produced through water electrolysis using renewable sources like solar and wind power, is seen as a potential solution to address carbon emissions and create new export opportunities. To stimulate the production of green hydrogen and establish India as a significant centre for cleaner fuels, the Indian government plans to reduce import tariffs on the necessary machinery. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reportedly discussing plans to exempt certain equipment from import levies and reduce the goods and services tax on fuel, specifically for the production of exported fuels. In line with its overall strategy, India has set a target of producing 5 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030.
