Nvidia Considers Expanding H200 AI Chip Production as China Demand Surges

Nvidia is evaluating whether to expand production capacity for its H200 AI chips after demand from Chinese customers exceeded current supply, according to sources familiar with internal discussions. The move follows a decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to allow Nvidia to export the H200 to China, subject to a 25% levy on sales. The H200, Nvidia’s second-fastest AI processor after the Blackwell series, has attracted strong interest from major Chinese tech firms such as Alibaba and ByteDance, which are exploring large-scale orders. Nvidia said it is managing its supply chain carefully to ensure sales to China do not disrupt deliveries to U.S. customers. However, uncertainty remains as China has not yet approved imports of the H200, with authorities reportedly holding emergency meetings to assess the impact on domestic chipmakers and strategic technology policy. Supply is already tight, as Nvidia prioritizes Blackwell production and the development of its next-generation Rubin architecture, while manufacturing capacity at TSMC’s advanced 4nm nodes is limited. Analysts note that the H200 significantly outperforms domestically produced AI accelerators, raising concerns that large-scale imports could slow China’s local chip development. Nvidia now faces a complex balancing act between meeting global demand, navigating U.S.–China geopolitical constraints, and securing scarce advanced semiconductor manufacturing capacity.

SpaceX Prepares for Potential 2026 IPO with US$800 Billion Valuation Signal

SpaceX, Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite company, is moving closer to a potential initial public offering (IPO) in 2026, marked by the launch of a secondary share sale valuing the company at US$800 billion. According to a letter from CFO Bret Johnsen reviewed by Reuters, SpaceX has approved a plan allowing new investors, existing investors, and the company itself to purchase up to US$2.56 billion in shares from eligible shareholders at US$421 per share. Johnsen noted that while an IPO is being prepared, its timing, valuation, and certainty remain dependent on execution and market conditions. The planned IPO could become one of the largest globally, fueled by the rapid growth of Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet business, alongside advances in Starship for lunar and Mars missions. Proceeds from a future public offering are expected to fund higher Starship launch frequency, space-based AI data centers, Moonbase Alpha, and crewed and uncrewed Mars missions. Reuters sources previously reported that SpaceX may seek to raise over US$25 billion in an IPO as early as mid-2026, potentially pushing its valuation above US$1 trillion. SpaceX is currently the second-most valuable private startup globally, behind OpenAI, amid a broader recovery in global IPO markets in 2025.

Thailand Rejects Ceasefire Claims, Vows to Continue Military Operations Against Cambodia

Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that no ceasefire agreement has been reached with Cambodia, dismissing claims by international mediators that hostilities had ended. He confirmed that Thai military operations will continue along the disputed border, contradicting statements from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and U.S. President Donald Trump, both of whom claimed a truce had been brokered. The fighting has persisted despite those assertions, and Cambodia has yet to officially acknowledge Trump’s ceasefire claim. The conflict has intensified, with four Thai soldiers killed on Saturday, bringing Thailand’s total military fatalities to 14 since clashes resumed earlier this week, according to Thai defense officials. Overall, more than 20 people have been killed and nearly 200 injured on both sides over six days of fighting, while around 600,000 civilians have been displaced along the 800-kilometer border, which has long been disputed over ancient temple sites. Cambodia accused Thailand of continued air and artillery strikes, including F-16 air raids and naval shelling, while announcing an indefinite border closure. The renewed violence comes after a previously mediated peace deal collapsed, underscoring rising regional tensions and complicating diplomatic efforts to halt the fighting.
