South Korea Regulator Warns Investors Over Risks of Single-Stock Leveraged Products
South Korea’s financial market regulator has cautioned investors about the risks associated with newly launched single-stock leveraged investment products amid a strong rally in the domestic equity market, particularly driven by semiconductor-related stocks. In a statement released on Thursday (June 18), the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) noted that rising market volatility has recently led to sharp price movements in both leveraged and inverse products tied to individual stocks. The regulator highlighted that increased fluctuations in the stock market have resulted in instances where single-stock leveraged and inverse products experienced significant short-term price swings. The FSS said the warning was issued to raise awareness among retail investors about the inherent risks of these instruments and to encourage more prudent investment decisions before gaining exposure to such products.
Trump Praises China and Russia for Neutral Role in Iran Conflict
U.S. President Donald Trump commended Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin for maintaining a neutral stance during the recent conflict involving Iran. Trump stated that both leaders refrained from obstructing Washington’s efforts to curb Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and instead played a constructive role in easing tensions. Speaking on Wednesday (June 17) following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement, Trump expressed appreciation for the positions taken by Beijing and Moscow. During a press conference held on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, he thanked both countries for helping improve the situation and welcomed their decision not to become directly involved in the conflict.
Trump Warns Iran of Military Action if Ceasefire Deal Is Violated
The United States and Iran have officially released the text of a temporary agreement signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to bring an end to the conflict between the two countries. However, Trump emphasized that Washington remains prepared to resume military operations if Tehran fails to comply with the commitments outlined in the agreement. Speaking at a press conference during the G7 Summit in France, Trump said his administration would not hesitate to take decisive action should Iran violate the deal. He expressed hope that ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a permanent ceasefire within the next 60 days would help restore stability in the Middle East and support lower global oil prices. Trump also reiterated earlier warnings, stating that the U.S. would respond forcefully if Iran failed to uphold its obligations under the agreement.
