Samsung Electronics Cuts U.S. Consumer Electronics Jobs Amid Texas Headquarters Move
Samsung Electronics has reduced its workforce across its U.S. display, smartphone, and consumer electronics operations, with the layoffs primarily affecting employees in New Jersey and Texas, according to company documents and sources familiar with the matter. Reuters reported that the job cuts are linked to the relocation of Samsung Electronics America (SEA), which oversees Samsung’s consumer electronics business in the United States but does not include its semiconductor operations. In a statement to Reuters, Samsung said 739 positions in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, were affected by the plan to move the company's U.S. headquarters to Texas. The company added that most impacted employees had been offered relocation opportunities, while others were laid off. Samsung did not provide further details regarding the restructuring or the reasons behind the workforce reduction.
Taiwan’s Lai Urges Unity to Defend Democracy Against Beijing Pressure

UAE’s Non-Oil Foreign Trade Rises 13.1% in First Half of 2026
The United Arab Emirates' non-oil foreign trade reached 1.937 trillion dirhams (approximately US$527.4 billion) in the first half of 2026, representing a 13.1% increase compared with the same period a year earlier. The figures were announced by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who shared the results in a post on X on Sunday. Mohammed bin Rashid said the UAE’s non-oil exports climbed to a record 452.8 billion dirhams between January and June 2026. The strong performance highlights the continued expansion of the country's non-oil trade sector and reflects ongoing efforts to diversify the economy by reducing reliance on hydrocarbon revenues while strengthening the UAE’s position as a regional and global trade hub.
