The incident occurred at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes. According to Chinese media outlet Caixin, the attack caused a fire on the vessel’s deck. The ship’s hull was also marked with the words “CHINA OWNER & CREW,” indicating that both the ownership and crew were Chinese. The incident has heightened market concerns over maritime security in the Middle East, particularly amid rising geopolitical tensions that could disrupt global energy supply chains.
Tesla’s China-Made EV Sales Rise for Sixth Straight Month
Tesla recorded its sixth consecutive year-on-year increase in China-made electric vehicle (EV) sales, despite intensifying competition in its two largest markets. According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Thursday, deliveries of Shanghai-produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles reached 79,478 units in May 2026.
